Wednesday’s adventure at The Forbidden Island Tiki Bar



Having chatted with my good friend Hanford Lemoore just before leaving work I found out he and his girlfriend Humuhumu were planning on heading over to the Forbidden Island in Alameda. Looks to be a great night out!



I showed up around before 9pm and started off with a Pain Killer. The drinks were amazing, some of which you can only get here at the Forbidden Island. There was a huge assortment of rum across the top of the back wall of the bar. Everyone was in good cheer.



Hanford and I chatted for awhile as my eyes adjusted to the low light of the bar. Hanford introduced me to some of the folks from TikiCentral.com. One Tiki Central guy was having a birthday get together.



Hanford introduced me to his friend Paul Cramer. It turns out Paul has been taking pictures at a few of the Burning Man celebrations and will be showing off his work August 10^th thru September 10 at the Triptych on 1155 Folsom. I’ll have to check that out.

Sometime later our friend Jason showed up. The Tiki Bar filled up with people and the place was packed. The inside looked incredible! Hanford explained about the building of the bar. The Forbidden Island has only been open for a few months. You could almost hear the sounds of ocean waves outside it was that real feeling.

Tonight would be the last time a gentleman known as Smiley would frequent this bar. He met a girl and was heading to Los Vegas to live. Stories were traded back and forth about and soon the night was ending and we all head out the back where Smiley truck was fully loaded for the drive south.



Fully load doesn’t do this truck a service. This small Nissan truck was never intended to have this much stuff and stacked this high. We all wished Smiley good luck on the drive. There was training bicycle on the very front top of the load.



Humuhumu climbed up the truck and started riding the bicycle. Everyone gathered around and I shoot off a few pictures to commemorate the event here in the back of the Forbidden Island.

Would you like to meet me? I’ll be lounging at the Forbidden Island tonight around 8pm. I’ll be wearing a blue Hawaiian shirt, shorts and shoes. Just ask for Chad Spacey. If you’re lucky I’ll introduce you to Hanford Lemoore. That’s right Mr. Lemoore. If you show up and give me your email I’ll give you all the pictures I take. Just ask and I’ll take your photo. I will not have my peanut M&M’s but I will bring my Game Boy DS with New Super Mario Bros. It will be fun! See you there!

Sushi and Caesar Salad from Trader Joes

You:
I like females between the ages of 25 and 33. If you’ve eaten from a roach coach, that’s ok. Hopefully you like to play video games, listen to music and get out. I mean get outside and do something. Go to a park see a live show and eat outside.

Me:
I’ve never eaten with a hooker, in a jail or from a roach coach. My friends at work say I should give the roach coach a try. I don’t think so. I’ll stick with the Sushi and Caesar Salad from Trader Joes. I like the rain, snow and sunshine and enjoy hearing people complain about any of those three.

Us:
Maybe you’d like to meet and have salads together. Maybe instead have coffee at a Peet’s. Ahh, that sounds good. I like the white mocha. Or just drop me an email and we can follow the friendship online.
